Easy Ways to Make Money from Your Unwanted Items
There are a surprising amount of different ways in which you can get your house cleared, and even if you are doing it yourself, you will find that there are points at which it can be quite expensive! The thing is however, that few people seem to realize the benefits of looking in to how you can make money from your house clearance, as there are certainly a variety of different ways in which you can ensure that you are making cash back on the items that you are trying to get rid of. Whilst some are more obvious than others, these ideas are all intended to get you thinking about the process in different ways, and to ensure that you are not at risk of losing out on some cash when clearing your home out!
For a start, you should do your initial clearance yourself. Depending on the nature of the house clearance, it is pretty important that you are able to sift through everything, to ensure that you have pulled anything that is of any worth from the mess. If you are doing a furniture clearance, then think about how much you may be able to make for certain items, as often, people can reupholster things that are torn or a bit dirty. Selling them off for cheap could give you a free removal as well as a little extra money with which to deal with the rest of the clearance. This idea of ‘upcycling’ things, to ensure that you are getting the full amount of money for them is one that is worth considering, however it can cost you a fair amount of money and time in outlay. For instance, if you have a sideboard with a broken leg that is a bit battered, then taking all of the legs off, and painting it an interesting color may well give you a fantastic coffee table or storage unit. These things can be sold on for profit, it just takes a little thinking about, which you may well not have the time for!
In a similar vein, you can sell of items that are junk to your neighbors in a yard sale, or at a car boot. The cost of the car boot for sellers usually low, but it is worth making sure that you have plenty of stuff to sell, as otherwise you may not make up the cost of the fuel! Price things low, and get rid of everything, rather than demanding what you think are the right prices for certain items. If you feel like there is something that you could sell to a collector, then you can look for similar items on the internet, and sell it on an online auction site, as these are often browsed by collectors and aficionados for bargains. This process will cut out the need for any middle men, who may be making money off of your items, and you will get a realistic price, as long as the item is listed properly.
Be aware that builders waste clearances can result in a lot of cash being thrown away! You can sell old bricks for a pound a go, and you need only look online for the prices of scrap copper, steel and aluminum. If you are in a position where you can, sift through the rubble with a friend, and ensure that you pull out anything that you could be selling off, to reduce the cost of the clearance from the start!
